Pens and dab coils also need to be cleaned regularly, it's just a part of the smoking game! That’s why we’ve put together a practical guide with step-by-step instructions on how to clean your weed pen so you can get the most out of it for much longer.
Why do I need to clean my weed pen?
Wax residue can build up in weed pens over time that will cause them to function less than optimally, or not work at all. If the residue builds up so much that it settles in the threads on the atomizer (which is also the airflow pathway), that’s when you will feel resistance or a complete blockage on the inhale and won’t get as good of a hit, if any.
How to Clean Your Weed Pen
First and foremost, our best piece of cleaning advice is to do it AFTER your dab session! This sounds backwards, but think about it. It's way easier to wipe off a little residue when it's still warm and malleable, than after it has hardened and cemented to the inside of your device.
To deep clean a dirty pen, you’ll need a liquid cleaning solution that’s tough enough to dissolve sticky, hardened residue, but that’s gentle enough to be used on something you inhale from. Alcohol is a simple and effective solution to use. Ooze Resolution Micro Swabs are pre-soaked in alcohol and help you get into all the little nooks and crannies in your cartridge pen and dab pen coils. You'll use a lot less swabs per cleaning session when you clean up after your sesh, rather than before you start.
How to Unclog Your Weed Pen
Sometimes your weed vape pen doesn’t need a full cleaning, it just needs to be unclogged. Usually this just means there is residue inside the mouthpiece. Instead of trying to suck out the clog until you’re blue in the face, run Prep Mode for a cycle!
This is a gentle heat cycle that warms up the airway and makes it much easier to unclog. Press the button twice to get it started. Let Prep Mode run for its full cycle before you attempt to inhale and clear it.
