At Ooze, we aim to provide high-quality vape pen batteries that keep us at the forefront of innovation. Our vaporizer pens are top-of-the-line, but sometimes, technological issues can arise that affect functionality that we can’t always control.
For regular Ooze battery users, you're familiar with the basics of using our vape pens: five clicks to turn on/off, three clicks to change the temperature setting, and two clicks to activate prep mode. Each click will illuminate the button in green. However, if your vape battery starts blinking green without any button presses, it indicates a potential issue.
Luckily, if you found this article, you are very close to figuring out why your Ooze pen is blinking green. We will cover the main reasons your Ooze vape pen might be acting weird and provide detailed troubleshooting vape tips on related issues. We will also help you identify counterfeit Ooze pen batteries, which might be part of your technical difficulties. In any case, we are always here to help educate you on all the things about vaping!
Frequently Asked Questions & Vape Pen TipsThere are three main reasons your Ooze vapor pen may be blinking green:
- Your vape battery is dead and needs to be charged.
- Your Ooze battery is experiencing a connection issue.
- Your vape pen was damaged on its way to you from the factory.
A common reason your Ooze pen is blinking green is a dead battery that needs to be charged. When your Ooze battery is depleted, the pen will flash green 10-15 times. Connect your pen to an Ooze charger to confirm your battery is dead. If the pen lights up green and the charger lights up red, it indicates that the battery is dead and charging.
Once fully charged, the charger's light will turn green, and the pen's light will turn off, signaling that the battery is fully charged and ready for use.
If your pen continues to blink after charging, it might be due to a connection issue. Check the connection between the battery and the cartridge, ensuring it's clean and properly aligned. If something seems off, your vape is having a connection issue.
2. Your Vaporizer Pen Is Having A Connection Issue
When your Ooze battery has a connection issue, it blinks green 4-5 times. Connection problems can arise from two leading causes: a leaking/ irregular-sized oil cartridge or a deformed coil.
Due to the nature of vape pens, many pre-filled cartridges are prone to leakage. Even a small amount of leakage can prevent the oil cartridge from properly connecting with the battery. Fortunately, there are several tricks you can try to fix this issue.
The first trick is to try to clean your vape parts. The most common vape cleaning method is a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. However, we highly recommend using Ooze Resolution Micro Swabs. These individually wrapped super slim swabs are pre-soaked in alcohol, so they don't drip everywhere. They are also specifically designed to clean your vape, so nothing will get the job done better!
After swabbing both the bottom of the cartridge and the connection point on the battery, wait until both pieces are completely dry before putting them back together and turning it on.
If this doesn’t work, it could be because your cartridge is an irregular size or has a deformed coil. Sometimes, you can solve this issue by tightening or loosening the cartridge until you find that sweet spot that makes a good connection. If your cartridge is incompatible with a 510-threaded battery, it might be time to try a different cart brand from the dispensary.
It can be nearly impossible to tell by looking at it, but now and again, legitimate dispensary cartridges will, unfortunately, have a deformed coil. This means that the hardware doesn't align correctly with the heating element of the battery, forcing the error. Try a different cart you know has worked with your pen to determine if this is your issue. This can be an empty cart or just an old one lying around.
If this other cartridge works, the issue is with the new one. Many dispensaries understand this can happen and are willing to swap it out for a different, working one. It never hurts to ask! If neither cartridge works, then the cartridge's hardware is not the cause of the problem.
We recommend only purchasing cartridges from a licensed dispensary (both for safety reasons and because you are more likely to get a high-quality cartridge), as these irregular carts can lead to irreparable damage to you and your Ooze pen over time. Read about why you should do your research before hitting a sketchy vape cartridge.
3. Your Battery Has Been Permanently DamagedIf you’ve tried and ruled out the first two reasons your pen could be blinking green and followed our fix-it tips, your Ooze battery might be permanently damaged. If this is the case, you will have to get a new one, which might even be covered under warranty.

Why Is My Ooze Pen Blinking Green but Fully Charged? If your cart pen is blinking green right after you are done charging it, it could indicate a short circuit within the battery. This issue can prevent the battery from functioning correctly, despite it still holding a charge. A blinking green light is often a warning signal that something is amiss with the device's internal circuitry. To address this problem, file a warranty claim with us to get a replacement battery..
Vapes With Digital Screens: What is Connection Detection?
If you're experiencing issues with your vape pen and it has a digital screen, you're in luck! The screen will display exactly what's wrong, eliminating the need for guesswork. Vapes like the Novex 2 (and others that haven’t been released yet) are equipped with a new feature called Connection Detection, which looks like a little padlock at the bottom of the screen. If your cartridge connects to your vape successfully, the lock will go from unlocked to locked and there will also be a checkmark. If there's a problem, the lock will be open with an X. After you screw it in, the digital screen will also give a smiley or frowny face to signal connection status.
If you get a frowny face indicating a connection issue, sticky residue might be in the battery chamber or on the bottom of your cartridge, blocking the connection. To fix this, disassemble your battery and use a micro swab to clean the affected parts. Allow them to dry completely before attempting to reconnect. Once everything is dry, try the connection process again. When successfully connected, the device’s pulse wave technology will buzz twice, and the lock icon on the screen will display a checkmark.
Why Is My Vape Lighting Up but Not Hitting? If your vape is lighting up but not hitting, it is likely due to a clogged airway. This common issue occurs when residue from oil accumulates and blocks the airflow, preventing vapor from being inhaled even though the device appears to be functioning. To resolve this, try cleaning the mouthpiece and the airway with a micro swab or a small brush to remove buildup.
Additionally, check the coil and ensure it is properly installed and not flooded with resin. Regular maintenance and cleaning of your vape can help prevent clogging and ensure a smooth vaping experience. If these steps do not solve the problem, it might be necessary to replace your vape’s coil or oil cartridge.
How Do You Maintain a Vape Pen?So, you got a brand new vape pen, and you want to keep it that way. Maintaining your vape pen properly ensures its longevity and optimal performance. Here are some key vape tips so you and your pen can have a long, and happy life together:
1. Clean Your Vape Regularly: How to Clean Vape BatteryRegular cleaning is necessary if you want to keep your vape in good condition. Luckily, cleaning your vape is easy! Start by disassembling your vape pen, including the mouthpiece, chamber, and other removable parts. Refer to your ooze pen instructions for proper disassembly. Then, clean the chamber using a small brush to remove any leftover herb particles. You can use a micro swab for a deeper clean, but ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling. Use the micro swab (which is dipped in isopropyl alcohol) to clean the mouthpiece, removing any residue buildup. Use a dry cloth to clean the battery connection points, ensuring no residue could affect the connection.
2. Always Use An Ooze Charger: How To Charge An Ooze PenTo make sure your battery lasts, always use the charger that came with your battery to avoid potential damage. Using a non-Ooze charger could result in a void of your battery’s warranty. In addition, always make sure to charge your battery with a wall charger. Plugging it into your car or laptop might seem convenient but it is never a good idea if you want to maintain your vape.
3. Store You Vape Properly: How to Store Vape Pen
Knowing how to store your vape correctly is important. We recommend storing your vape pen upright to prevent any potential residue from leaking and to ensure even oil distribution. Store your vape pen in a cool, dry place at home, avoiding extreme temperatures or direct sunlight to prevent battery damage. When you are on the go, we recommend the Ooze Traveler Pouch or any bag that has a vape sleeve so that it isn’t just floating around in your bag.
4. Replace Parts RegularlyTo maintain your vape, you must remember to stock up on replacement parts. Screens, coils, and filters should be replaced as needed to ensure clean vapor and proper airflow, typically every few weeks. Mouthpieces can accumulate buildup over time, so replace them if cleaning does not restore proper airflow.
How to Spot a Fake Ooze Vape Pen
As the popularity of vaping increases, so does the number of counterfeit batteries on the market. If your battery is acting strange and you didn’t buy it from our website, it's important to verify if your Slim Twist vape battery is an actual Ooze product or a counterfeit. We do not sell Ooze products on Ebay, DHGate, AliExpress, or other third-party retailers. If you buy from other places, we can’t guarantee that it is an authentic device.
Counterfeit vape pens are extremely dangerous and are not regulated to the high-quality standards the Ooze Team requires. Fake vapor batteries are notorious for overheating and breaking right out of the package. Make sure to buy from our website or a reputable smoke shop. Confirming that your Ooze Slim Twist is authentic is key to protecting yourself. Luckily, we have a whole Counterfeit Vape Pen Guide you can fill out if you suspect your pen is not the real deal. If you suspect that your Slim Twist isn’t legit, please fill out our suspected counterfeit form. This helps us investigate the issue and combat fraud.
