DIY (Do-It-Yourself) gifts are perfect for the holidays because they’re personal, creative, and show that you put time and effort into a gift. Not to mention, they’re great if you’re on a budget and still want to give a little something to your friends, family, coworkers and maybe even your hairdresser or mailman.
An extra special (and still easy) gift to try this year is a DIY cannabis product. Our list of ideas below will all make your giftee feel pampered and encouraged to take a little time for themselves this holiday season. Make a whole batch of any of these cannabis-infused goodies and you’ll have one to give everyone on your list!
1. Lip Balm
You can’t go wrong with gifting lip balm for the holidays, but you can make it even more delightful by adding a CBD or other cannabis oil to your hydrating concoction. Make a full batch of cannabis lip balm to give everyone on your list, because who doesn’t have dry, chapped lips in the winter? For a dozen 7mL containers, follow this simple recipe:
- Add water to the bottom portion of the double boiler and place over medium-high heat. Add the shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil to the top portion of the double boiler.
- Allow the ingredients to melt and then bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- When the mixture begins to simmer, turn off the heat and stir in your essential oil of choice and your desired amount of concentrate.
- Prepare your chapstick containers or lip balm containers by removing the tops and placing them on a solid surface to be filled.
- Using a pipette or similar tool, gently transfer the hot liquid into the lip balm or chapstick containers.
- Allow the containers to rest and cool for 15 minutes before sealing with the top.
- Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

2. Cannabis Loose Leaf Tea
Did you know you can make a cannabis infused tea with just decarbed marijuana bud? Once it’s decarbed, just steep it in your hot water and it’s good to go! This makes lovely little jars of loose leaf cannabis tea a perfect holiday gift. Simply make a batch of a tea recipe you like, mix in the ground decarbed weed, and package it up in a cute little jar. You can also include some empty tea bags in the gift so they have everything they need to make a cup right away.
This recipe for a wintery pine needle and lavender tea is the perfect seasonal gift—and the notes lend themselves well to those of cannabis’. Just mix in your crushed up bud to add to it as well!
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup of white tea leaves
- 4 tablespoons of pine needles (edible)
- 4 tablespoons of juniper berries
- 2 tablespoons of dried lemon peel
- 2 teaspoons of dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon of dried lavender
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, mix together the white tea leaves, pine needles, juniper berries, lemon peel, rosemary, and lavender.
- Store the blend in an air tight container, away from direct sunlight.
- Use 1-2 teaspoons of the blend per one cup of freshly boiled (but slightly cooled) water and allow to steep for 2-5 minutes. Add sugar to taste, if desired.

3. Bath Bomb
Cannabis-infused bath bombs are an irresistible excuse to take a break from the holiday craziness and unwind. These also make a great gift because you can give them to anyone on your list, not just those who enjoy feeling the full effects of cannabis. A bath bomb infused with cannabis oil or CBD oil (you can buy a pre-made bottle or make your own with decarbed weed) won’t get you high, but is meant to provide a little extra muscle relaxation in the bath as the cannabinoids absorb into the skin topically.
Try this DIY peppermint bath bomb recipe and add in your own cannabis oil drops before letting them set. Then, package them up in small boxes with seasonal tissue paper or confetti, and finish with a bow!
4. Candles
Give your friend or family member the gift of a cozy holiday ambience with a cannabis-infused DIY candle. You can make these with full-spectrum cannabis oil, CBD oil or hemp extract—just add your choice to any DIY candle recipe that think your giftees will love. Even just CBD oil infused into a candle can provide soothing effects when burned.
The only other ingredients you’ll need are essential oils for fragrance, soy wax, candle wicks, and jars (can even be empty Mason jars or jelly jars). This recipe is perfect for the holidays with frankincense and pine fragrance notes.
5. Cannabis Marshmallows
Put together a little gift basket of hot chocolate packets, a cute mug, and a bag of your homemade cannabis-infused marshmallows. We love the idea of this because you can let your giftee know there is 2.25 mg of weed of THC per marshmallow, and they can add however many they want to their hot cocoa depending on how much of a buzz they want. It’s simple, too, with only 4 ingredients: gelatin, maple syrup, cold water and your cannabis concentrate.
Here’s how to whip these up:
- In a stand mixer or deep bowl, combine the water and gelatin and set aside.
- In a sauce pan, bring the maple syrup to a boil then reduce to medium heat.
- Using your candy thermometer, monitor the maple syrup until it cools to 235 degrees Fahrenheit and remove from heat.
- Slowly pour the cooled maple syrup to the incorporated gelatin and water mixture.
- Add your desired dose of Cannabis concentrate and mix until stiff peaks form.
- Pour the mixture onto a parchment paper lined pan and let sit for 4-12hours at room temperature.
- Once the marshmallows have set, cut to your desired size and enjoy.
